Camping

For my birthday the 'rents and Aaron and I went camping on the Olympic Peninsula. This is Aaron and I kayaking on Lake Crescent - a beautiful area!

When I woke up Saturday mornging, I began singing "happy birthday to me" and our neighbors heard, so later they brought me this bouquet and sang me "happy birthday" in German.


Bailey thought she needed to explore every grain of sand and was determined that Mom needed to go with her.


Dad was practicing his roping skills on Willey. Willey did NOT like that game.

Bikin'

Scot & I went on a ride to Montana with some of my family, and it was a great ride. We went through Virginia City, Quake Lake, Hebgen Lake, and West Yellowstone. It was such a beautiful ride! I didn't know anything about Quake Lake, but I guess back in 1959, there was a powerful earthquake (7.5 on the Richter scale) that triggered a massive landslide, which sent over 80 million tons of rock down into the canyon. It blocked the Madison River, and formed the new Earthquake Lake. 28 people died, and hundreds more were trapped. One of my aunts was camping with the young women there, and in the middle of the night, the bishop had a feeling that they needed to leave, so they woke everyone up and packed there stuff and left. About a half hour or so later, the campground was completely buried. It was a really neat place to go visit.

Miniature Golf

For family home evening one night, we took the kids to play miniature golf. They had a blast, and both kids got a hole in one. Needless to say, they beat my score ... I am definitely NOT a Tiger Woods! But, we still had a lot of fun on our family night out!

Small Towns Kansas

Just thought we would say hay, this is a little town about 15 miles from the house called Paxico. This little town is full of antique shops, just kicking around on the bikes having fun.

We're moving!

We'll be spending the next 1-2 years in Madrid, Spain. We still don't know when we're going, but it's set in stone now, as we told the kids last night.

Our First Race

I decided I needed to have a goal for all the running I do, so I entered my first 5K. And let me say it it much harder running in the heat of the day rather than the early morning. I was 5th in the 30 - 39 category, and I was happy with that, all I wanted to do was finish the race.
There was a 1/2 mile kids race, so Shelby and Tucker decided to run as well. Shelby took 2nd place for her age group and Tucker was 1st in his. Tucker was very disappointed to see all the kids ahead of him, but her kept going, not realizing he would still win for his age. It was so cool to see him run around the corner right up there with the Big Kids. I was really impressed with their efforts, and very proud of them.

Fun at the Lake

Scot and I took the kids to a lake that is near us for a fun family home evening. The water was a little cold at first (you got the shock factor when you first jumped in!) but wasn't too bad once you got used to it! The kids had a lot of fun and Mackenzie loved snorkeling with Scot!
