Learning Fair

Mackenzie's class did a learning fair at school. They had to pick someone who changed the world; then do a report on them, make a poster, and dress up like their person. Mackenzie, of course, chose Elvis. He did, after all, change music, was her reasoning! It was fun to go see all the booths. They even had handouts (Mackenzie's was a picture of Elvis). My favorite was the girl next to "Elvis" who did her report on the lady who invented chocolate chip cookies, and she had cookies for her hand out! Mackenzie did a great job on her project and everyone loved her costume. When I walked in the room, I could hear kids telling their parents, "You have to go over there and see Elvis!" I was really proud of her!

Tate's play

Tate was in a play last week at his school. He did great at his part and sang the songs so well. They even did a little square dance, which was so cute! Then he chose me to go do the "chicken dance" with him, which was not so cute!!

Boise

Mackenzie & I went to Boise with some of my family to see my sister. It was great for Mackenzie & I to go on a trip together! That is something we hardly ever get to do, so we had a lot of fun on our "girls weekend"!

Sunny's baby

Thursday evening Sunny gave birth to a wobbly baby boy, we have no stats to report except for the 3 inch wispy beard on his chin ( at first glance it gives him a billy goat look ) which is also why, although he remains unnamed, that the kids have started calling him "Billy"

Hogle Zoo 2007

I was looking through my pictures and saw these pictures from Hogle Zoo and thought I'd share them. We took the kids there last spring, and they really enjoyed it! We were there before the busy season, so although it was crowded, I'm sure it could have been much worse! It was fun to just take our time & walk around & see everything! The monkeys are always the favorite!

Mom's Day

I didn't get this posted yesterday, on his actual birthday, but he will forgive me! We did take flowers out to the cemetery, though. We love & miss you, Ryan!!

Yeah Aaron!!!

Hey there family . . . it looks like Aaron, the pups and I will be moving back to Washington in about a month. We are very excited and scared at the same time. Now we will be closer for the next family reunion ;>)

Motorcycle Awareness Rally

Yesterday Scot & I went on a motorcycle awareness rally with some family & friends. We all met at a high school and then went on a "motorcycle parade" through the town. There were 737 bikes, so it was quite the parade! The whole rally was to show motorists just how many bikes are out there on the road and to watch out for them. It was a lot of fun just being there with that many bikes!

St. Jo History Ride

We planed this ride to St. Joseph Missouri two mounths ago. We conceled twice because of work and finely got are chance. We trailered the bikes up to St. Joe in the dark so we would'nt spoil any of the ride. Had are ride all planned out, start at St. Joe take in all we can there and head west to Troy and then head south paralleling the Missouri river taking in all of the gorgeous seenery. The plans started to change as we woke at the motel Friday morning at 3:00 am with 60 mile an hr wind pushing rain and hail into are door that was under a six foot walkway. Turned on the t.v. and lerned of a tornato landing about 60 miles south of us and tearing up a few houses. No one was killed but there were injuries. Friday morning the rain finaly moved off of us . The wind stayed steady at 35 miles an hr, so we Left Lori's bike on the trailer and teemed on mine.We cut out the ride along the Missouri and took in what we could in the city. We enjoyed this original Pony Express site that was turned into a museum.

'A moment in time'. This display depicts the first ride of the Pony Expess that began April 3, 1860 at 7:15 pm. The 2000 mile treck through the wilderness had relay stations every 15 miles or so where a rider only had 2 min. to change horses and be hammered down again. the relay stations were small shacks with one stock tender and fresh horses. The riders would have to endure 50 to 75 miles of all out action with four horse change outs. At the points of rider change they had a station house where the station manager, stock tenders and riders lived.

Hear are a couple of shots of some beutiful houses in the run down area of St. Joseph Missouri. Structures like this were everywhere. I wanted to ride up and down every street.
