Waterfalls!

Our family went up to see some waterfalls that aren't too very far from us. The kids rode up with one of Scot's sisters, and we rode the bike up! It was a fun ride, and such beautiful scenery when we got there!

Temple Day

Scot and I were able to go to the temple today for the sealing of Scot's younger brother and his wife. It was such a wonderful day and a great spiritual feeling inside the temple. Scot was asked to be a witness to the sealing, and it was such a beautiful ceremony. The temple is such a wonderful place to be! We often forget how peaceful and calming it is to be there and feel of that sweet spirit! It was a great day!

Fiedler Ride

Lori, nephew Mathew and I went on a beautiful ride today to pay tribute to a fallen Friend that passed away Thursday night. The friend, Brian Fiedler was injured in a car accident and kept alive on life support for two months but was unable to recuperate with the brain damage that he received. Today we gathered, prayed together and 157 bikes rode to honor him and show support for his wife and two children. You dont think until times like this how many lives one person can touch. May your prayers be with the Fiedler family.

When the kids are away. . . .

All the kids were away from home with various activities, which left Blaine and I home alone, which is something that very rarily happens. We usually just feel a little lost without kids but on this particular Saturday, Blaine suggested we run out to Deception Pass and go for a quick boat
tour. I grabbed my camera and thought perhaps I could get a lovely picture of the bridge. Well, unfortunately I didn't get that dreamed of picture, as the Captain raced out the Pass so quickly that all I could see through the mess of my flying hair was a faint glimpse of the bridge and then it was gone. And then way cooler than some old bridge, we saw two pods of young male orcas. We weren't allowed to get very close, so from a distance we watched. First we saw dorsal fins, then a little bit of the top of the head. . .

more waiting, and then some splashing
and fins again, it was the second pod.
We were pretty excited to get to see
whales. . . and then the magnificent breach,
okay not as spectacular as on the discovery
channel but still exciting. Then it was time to go. . . .
I wanted to stay, to get closer, but alas my camera
is not waterproof so pulling a man overboard excerise
to extend our stay was not an option.
And then almost as quickly as it started it ws all over. Another quick run through the Pass, more flying hair and stinging wind and then we were back at the dock with a day full of memories. . . .

'Project Midget'

Wade and family mobilized on 'Project Midget' a 1974 MG we picked up at auction a couple of years ago. As you can see she needs a little floorboard work. We are looking forward to continued family bonding in the garage.

Church History

Labor day week end was an absolutely Gorgas weekend of chasing church history on the bikes. Lori and I went to KC and stayed with Dandra for the weekend and she accompanied us on aur bike adventure. Saturday we went through Kansas City, which is an adventure all in itself, and up into Missouri, where the Law said we had to purchase helmets!. Once in Missouri we went to Far West where the early Mormons settled after being chased out of Jackson County, They started to build a Temple there under the direction of Joseph Smith. Reading some journal entries of some of the saints we learned that Joseph smith actually had hands on involvement in quarrying the corner stones from the ledge as the notes called it. the corner stones were all that were placed before the saints were driven from their homes. the corner stones remain and it was awesome to see. Sunday we rode down to Independence and took in the visitors center and liberty jail. We felt an amazing spirit at Liberty Jail, after we listened to the narration of the events, we sat in silence (in front of the jail pictured) for a moment in the dimmed light and pondered what these great men did for us and the sacrifices that they made. As we sat there a Sister Missionary broke out in song with the most angelic voice singing 'Praise To The Man'. Talk about pulling on a guys emotions, it was an awesome experience.
